IMPORTANT INFORMATION

2022 Recital Updates & Reminders

• 50TH ANNIVERSARY RECITAL: Saturday, May 21st at CEDAR HILL High School(1 Longhorn Blvd, Cedar Hill, 75104).

The Recital is two acts. Act I is at 2:00 pm. Act II is at 4:00 pm.  Dancer arrival times are TBD.

• COSTUMES: As Recital Costumes arrive, dancers are being fitted. Please make sure your dancer attends each class. Only parents are allowed to sign for and pick up costumes. Any past-due balance (recital fee, tuition, etc.) must be paid to receive your dancer’s costume. No exceptions. Please do not ask. Thank you.

• PICTURES will be done at the recital.  For individual pictures (optional), the photographer will be at the MLSD studio the week after recital - Tuesday, May 24th and Thursday, May 26th.  More details to come.

• ATTENDANCE: Please make sure your dancer ATTENDS EACH of their remaining dance classes. Absences/tardiness greatly affect the class preparation for the recital performance. We want everyone to shine!

 

• LAST CLASS / MAY TUITION: Our 2021-2022 dance year concludes with Recital.
May tuition will be prorated, 3⁄4 of the regular tuition.

• RECITAL VIDEO: You may order and pay for video now. The video will be on a flash drive and include both acts.
Cost is $30. Flash drive will be mailed. (Approx. 3 weeks turnaround.) Click Here to Order Video.

 

• RESERVED SEATING: Reserve and pay in person. $20 each. Reserve seating is optional. Seats purchased are reserved for both acts.
 

• 50TH ANNIVERSARY EVENTS:
PICNIC on Sunday, May 22nd (day after Recital)
FORMAL GALA on Saturday, June 11th

ur VIRTUAL classes resume September 8TH and we are excited about seeing your dancer! 

Registration will be done online this year.

With online registration, you will enter your dancer’s information, select their classes, and make payment.  Remember that we are waiving the Registration Fee for our students that were enrolled in March 2020, so leave the “Returning Student Registration $30” box unselected when you get to the fees selection section.

 

You will notice the tuition has been adjusted to coincide with the new virtual schedule.

Please read the schedule carefully as there are changes to some of the class days and times.

After you submit your dancer’s Registration online, you will receive the Zoom link and password for each of your dancer’s classes.

If you are unsure in which class or level your dancer should be enrolled or if your dancer would like to audition virtually for Ambassadors, Junior Company or Senior Company, please submit your information using our contact form or call us 972-230-9323 and leave a message with your dancer’s name and age and we will contact you.

Scholarship for graduating seniors and the dancer recital gift. Trophies for top sellers.

RECITAL DATE: Sunday, May 17th at Cedar Hill High School.

ACT I is at 2:00 p.m. and ACT II is at 4:00 p.m.

You will be given the act in which your dancer will perform. If your dancer takes multiple classes, it is possible he or she may perform in both acts.

 

LAST DAY OF CLASSES: Tuesday, May 19th. May tuition will be prorated (3/4).

DeSoto Holiday Parade: This event has changed. The City is now planning a holiday festival instead of a parade. As we get details, we’ll plan our participation.

You many register your student anytime during our normal business hours, preferably before your class time. Visit the "Enroll" section on the website to print and complete your application and policies form before arrival. Be prepared to pay your tuition and registration fee.

ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REMINDERS - APRIL 2016

 

Recital: Sunday, June 5th at 3:00 p.m. at Cedar Hill High School Performing Arts Center (1 Longhorn Blvd, Cedar Hill, TX)

 

Dress Rehearsal: Rehearsal will be held at our studio during your dancer’s regular class time on Thursday, June 2nd and/or Saturday, June 4th. *If your dancer has class on Monday or Tuesday, their rehearsal will be Saturday, June 4th and the time given to you next week. All classes, except Preschool, will need to wear their costume(s) for rehearsal. Preschool will wear their class attire (black leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes and tap shoes).

 

Reserved Seating: We are offering reserved seating for Recital. Reservations are $15 per seat. Starting today, you may purchase and select your seat(s) from the seating chart. Your dancer’s name will be placed on the seat to mark the reservation. Reservations are made on first come first served basis.

 

Annual Fundraiser: Raffle each child is asked to sell 8 raffle tickets at $5 per ticket. The raffle prize is a $100 Target gift card. The drawing will be held at the recital. The winner need not be present to win. Fundraiser goes toward the Alivia Broadus Memorial Scholarship for MLSD graduating seniors and end-of-the-year recital gifts for all students. Top three sellers will be recognized at the Recital. Deadline to turn in raffle ticket money is Saturday, May 28th.

 

Happy Ads: Notes of support and congratulations from family, friends, businesses, etc. can be placed for your dancer in the Recital Program. Happy Ads are $75. The ad is a full page in the program which is half the size of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of typing paper. Ads are printed in black and white. Ads must be emailed in a pdf format to MaryLoisDance@aol.com. The deadline to purchase Happy Ads is Saturday, May 21st. Create your own ad and submit it in the pdf format. If you would like the printer to create your ad, add $25.

 

Recital Costumes: As we receive costumes, we are doing costume fittings to determine any needed size exchanges. Please make sure your dancer is in class to try on their costume(s). In the next couple of weeks, costumes will be distributed to parents. There will be a costume sheet for parents to sign showing that you picked up the costume(s) for your dancer. All past due tuition, late fees, and recital balances must be paid before the release of any costume. We are sorry we cannot make any exceptions so please do not ask.

 

Attendance: Attendance is mandatory for all students for the remaining classes.

 

Recital Photos: We will take recital photos at the studio. A class photo schedule will be emailed out in the next few days after confirmation of all of our costume delivery dates. After pictures are taken, you will be able to view, order and purchase your pictures online through the photographer’s website.

 

Recital T-Shirt: Recital t-shirts will go on sale next week and must be paid for by May 14th. Shirts are $12. We will email you a picture of the t-shirt design and the link to place your order. You must place your order online by May 5th and then make your payments at the front desk by May 12th. Shirts will arrive by May 20th.

 

Recital DVD: A professional video of the Recital will be available for $35. Prepayment is required to reserve a copy. Deadline to pay for DVDs is May 28th. DVDs take approximately 4 weeks turnaround and will be mailed to you.

 

Ella Lois Hudson Ensemble: The Ella Lois Hudson Ensemble is comprised of former students, instructors, and parents. Ensemble rehearsals are Saturdays 2:45-3:45 p.m. This group does perform at the recital. No monthly fee. Some experience required. Recital Fee $60.

 

Zumba: Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 9:00-10:00 a.m. It’s a FUN workout with Ms. Lori. $7 drop-in rate.

 

Tuition: June tuition is due with May tuition. June tuition will be prorated. Example- If your tuition is $72 per month, June will be $19. May + June = $91 (We will email the May + June calculation for each student.)

 

Labeling: Please label (full name) all of your dancer’s dance shoes (ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop), bags, cover-ups, etc.

We have added a new PRESCHOOL BALLET & TAP CLASS on Tuesdays 5:45-7:00 p.m. to our 2015-2016 schedule.

Back to Dance Reminders:

 

- Dancers ages 6 and under should replace their tap shoe laces with tap ties. We have tap ties available at the front desk for $3 per pair.

 

- Clearly label all of your dancer's shoes before arriving at the dance school.

 

Announcements:

 

- We are excited about having return to our staff, Ms. Christie Sullivan teaching Company ballet.

 

- We have added Jazz II and Modern II to the 2015-2016 schedule as well as Advanced Hip-Hop!

 

- Zumba is being offered THREE days a week. Tuesday 6:30 p.m., Thursday 6:30 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. $35 per month, $7 drop-in

 

- Pointe class is available (by teacher assessment) for students age 11 and older.
